Russia Aims for Contract to Sell Il-114 and SJ-100 to India

Russia aims to sign a binding contract within a year for the sale of Il-114-300 and SJ-100 passenger aircraft to India.

Speaking after a BRICS meeting held in India, Russian Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Alexey Gruzdev said there are numerous potential customers in the country.

Gruzdev said India is also interested in a possible localisation project to produce the aircraft domestically. However, details such as which components would be manufactured and the production volume will reportedly be addressed after the initial orders.

Russia is also promoting the MC-21, which is still undergoing certification, to the Indian market. Moscow states that the priority is meeting demand in the domestic market, but that new Russian passenger aircraft must be promoted in international markets at the same time.
